Judo/MMA

JUDO / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a combat sport in which two competitors attempt to achieve dominance over one another by utilizing a wide variety of permitted martial arts techniques, including striking, grappling, and submission. Well known MMA organizations include the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC), and Pride Fighting Championships (Pride). The competitions can take place either inside a cage or in a traditional boxing ring. These classes are taught in a non-traditional way. Our classes teach individuals how to utilize proper technique, leverage, and positioning to overcome a larger, stronger aggressor. The classes focus on self-defense and the promotion of self-confidence. Participants will learn stance, footwork, punches, kicks, knees, elbows, blocks, evasions, legal takedowns, combinations, strategies, hand-to-hand combat, and ground fighting. Like Boxing, this is an equipment-heavy program that uses throwing dummies, heavy bags, double-end bags, slip bags, speed bags, and more.
